In one of the most important cultural and historical monuments in Bitola, the object of the old Turkish barracks,  today is settled the Institute and Museum Bitola. The facility was built in 1848  when Bitola had  its greatest development. At that time the object was a military high school, and one of the educated cadets was Mustafa Kemal Ataturk - the father of modern Turkey.
In his honor, in 1998  a Memorial room was open. The museum contains a permanent exhibition of archaeological artefacts old up to 5 million years BC.

It is a museum display for the Jewish ethnicity in Bitola, located in one of the rooms of the Jewish cemetery in Bitola. The museum displays its content through photos, documents, prints and other written material that depicts Jewish ethnicity that lived 500 years together with the Macedonian population. Most of the photos and documents exposed in the museum are coming from the late XIX and early XX century. Photos from prominent Jewish families are presented, also photos from folklore, sports associations, craftsmen and photos of individual rabbis who had lived in Bitola.

These departments work within the Institute and Museum : Department of History, Department of Architecture, Department of History of Art, Department of Ethnology and the Museum of tobacco. The role of the museum in the cultural life is of significant importance. It is an institution that explores, evaluates and saves the historical artifacts in the territory of the city of Prilep. Within its activities the institution undertakes field studies, collection of museum material, records, care and professional treatment of museum material, prevention and protection of cultural heritage  and publication of scientific and professional editions.

The Tobacco Museum in Prilep is managed by the National Institute Institute and Museum- Prilep, working together with the Tobacco Institute. It is the only museum in the Balkans of this kind and one of the major tobacco museums in Europe. It was opened in 1973, marking 100 year of the tobacco production in Prilep (the building of the first warehouse for the purchase of tobacco in Prilep), and 400 years of the presence of tobacco from the Ottoman Empire. The museum includes 2584 exhibits. The permanent exhibition of the Tobacco Museum is in the facility of the Institute of Old Slavonic Culture.

the Ilinden uprising

The Museum was open on  August 2 1953, marking the 50th anniversary of the Ilinden Uprising and the Krusevo Republic. It is located in the house of Tomalevski brothers, dating from the 19th century, where the proclamation of the Krusevo Republic was held. The museum exhibits are the most valuable documents of the city and its rebellious spirit, showing the preparation of the uprising against the Turkish empire. In it are exhibited original weapons, maps, photographs, events all listed chronologically and related to the Ilinden Uprising.

It is located near the Ilinden monument on the locality Gumenje. It was open in 1988 and it contains exhibits related with the National Liberation War from 1941-1945. In the Museum dominate is the mural fresco,  work of the great master of color Borko Lazeski, which depicts the war. Within the museum there is a summer scene where several of events are held during the Scientific- cultural meeting "Ten days of Krusevo Republic".

The Antique Museum "Filip" contains large collection of antique cars including: "Simka Ariane" from 1953, "Opel Olimpija", "Ford Taunus", "Peugeot 404", "Plimut Valijant", "Moskvic", "Opel Olimpija", "Zastava 750", "Volkswagen Buba", "Citroen". and twenty four motorbikes six decades old in a great condition such as "BMW", "DKW", "NSU MAKS" etc. The addition of the Etno Museum rooms contains of village room, urban room, Jewish room аnd antiquie. The museum also has weapon sector containing: Short Austrian "Remington 1864", American gun, saber and knife. Part of this unique institution are variety of music instruments such as: organ 208 years old, accordion, bagpipe, traditional drum , zurla and collection of old traditional clotes.

In this place  during the Ilinden uprising  weapons and ammunition were produced for the rebels. Inside are exposed tools that were used as a part of the weapon production.

ethnological museum

Ethnological museum has 2000 art items: jewelery, weapons, old coins, and over 160 different traditional Macedonian clothes.The visitors of the museum can also buy some souvenirs made by the family Eftimovski. The visitors can also taste some traditional Macedonian meals.

The museum was built in  2004. The museum has permanent exibition of : Smilevo's congress (held in 1903), the life and work of Macedonian rebel Dame Gruev, documents of the activities of the partisan squad ”Dame Gruev” and  room with items and traditional clothes of the village Smilevo.
