Clock tower

Center of the town, Prilep

The  story of the Clock tower  begins in Prilep in 1858. There is a legend that says this is the new clock, because it was built over the old wooden tower, which burned in a fire that turned into ashes the entire Prilep Bazaar. Locals in Prilep  tell  that their grandparents were honored   to attend the opening of the Clock Tower. The money for building the clock  tower were raised from the inhabitants of Prilep, the rich and the poor. According to the story, the local government was also included in the fundraising. It asked each family to donate  at least one egg for the construction,  to make a solid plaster, which now connects the gray stones of the  clock tower. Today, the Clock, along with "Charshi" Mosque which is only a few steps from it  and Turkish bath are the most recognizable emblems of the modern city.
